How to Season a Teapot
Before first use, it is recommended to season your Yixing teapot to remove any kiln dust and awaken the clay.
Step 1: Rinse the teapot
Rinse the inside and outside with warm water.
Step 2: Boil in clean water
Place the teapot in a pot of water and bring it to a gentle boil for 20–30 minutes.
Step 3: Brew your chosen tea
Fill the teapot with the tea you intend to dedicate it to and let it steep for several hours.
Step 4: Rinse and dry
Discard the tea, rinse with warm water, and let the teapot dry naturally.
Your teapot is now ready to begin its journey.
Seasoning helps the clay open up, improving aroma absorption and brewing performance from the very first use.
